I did not realize was such a hunting dog myself. He brings an occasional bird in from the backyard. I have a feeling one of these days, he will get the squirrells that run the fences and trees. He does a good job of getting the birds out of the fireplace for me too.

them huskies will go after anything. We had one that would bring up snakes, field mice, squirrels, rabbits just about anything you could find out in the woods...

I am very suprised at Harley D. He is pretty much an inside dog and only goes out to P&S. He even sleeps in my bed until I fall asleep then gets down on the floor and lays next to the bed. If I wake up before him, I'll step on him. He is one of those that wakes me up every morning liking my face to get me up to let him out to P&S. Dog is nuts. True story here, but don't ever tell anyone. I'm divorced you know, One morning I was snoozing away off in dreamland and HD started licking my ear, and I was dreaming or started dreaming about this hot chick and... man I am telling you. I woke up with a piece of lumber to be proud of. I thought that only happended to teenagers. I sure was mad when I woke up and it was just a dream and the dang dog licking my ear !!! I put his butt outside and didn't let him back in until dark thirty that day.

As you folks know last spring we decided to allow ourselves to be adopted by a slightly insane Maine Coon named Weazie (AKA: His Royal Fuzziness, Prince Weazious the First; Fuzzybutt; Mister Fuzzybutt Honeypaw; Lord Fuzzybottom)

It has been an interesting year, despite astronomical vet bills, and Weazie is turning into quite the handsome young man, very playful though somewhat lacking in the courage department (he's very much the Cowardly Lion). Of course though, now that he has explored every possible nook and crannie inside the house, and as we aren't letting him outside, and despite a plethora of toys (it's like living with a very messy three year-old), our Weazie has been acting like a bored teenager. Moping around the house, whining, muttering under his breath. In short, we weren't doing enough to keep him entertained.

Enter Velcro...!

No, we didn't Velcro him to his $600 cat tower. We got him a buddy. Err... buddette? "Velcro" is the name of the one year-old long haired black&white female we adopted tonight from the Orange County Animal Shelter.

She's a little sweetheart, still recovering a bit from being spayed last week, and slightly underweight at only 6 lbs. (Weazie is up to 10 lbs now) but we expect her to put on some weight and fill out wonderfully as she settles in.

Her an Weazie seem to have negotiated something of a truce from the moment she got here. Though he's been following her around like a mad stalker there's been little more than a couple of hisses and some muted growls, and now they seem to be starting to play together.

We'll see what happens over the next few days, but I think this will work out rather well...

Pictures will be posted after she's had time to settle in.

Well Weazie was snipped last year, so there were no worries there anyway, but coming from a shelter she was spayed anyway, and that will benefit all of us because sharing a house with a cat in heat can get awful loud.

Right now I put her in the guest room, and gave her food and water in the guest bathroom that's attached. Weazie was getting a little too wound up, chasing her around the house, and I want her to have a quiet night and settle in before she has to set him into his place.
