| I don't know if this is the proper place for this question but here goes anyhow. I have a 2000 Grand Caravan Sport. It has the 3.3L V-6. The problem is, when the engine is cold it starts hard. For example, when the wife or I go out to start it in the morning it cranks over for about 5-7 seconds before it fires up. It has been doing this now for about a month. I have put new spark plugs in it and it didn't improve the way it starts. After the engine is warmed up, you can shut it off and then it will fire right back up. Does anybody have an idea what it could be? I have also tried a fuel pressure check with a gauge on the fuel rail and when you turn the key on it jumps right up to 60 p.s.i. and holds for quite a while. Anybody have a clue what it might be? |

| I would think a good scan tool when it is cold would shine some light on the problem

| could just be an old battery. does it crank fast or seem like it's struggling?

| Thanks for the replies. Its not the battery. It cranks plenty fast enough. It just won't fire up right away when the engine is not at normal operating tempature. I also checked out the throttle body and it was spotless. |

| have you checked the air filter... if its dirty it will cause long starts... how about changing it over to a thiner oil for the winter months... perhaps a weakcoil pack or something anong them lines... as things start to wear they tend to be weak.. so if you coil pack is going bad then it is gonna be worse in the cold... maybe try parking it in the garage if you have one and puttinga small heater infront of the motor to keep it a little warmer |

| been having a smiliar problem with my truck, i replaced the battery cables, and have'nt had a problem since. while the battery is out might want to hook it up to a charger to see if it is fully charged. while yer at it make sure to clean all the connections. just a thought |

| you might want to consider using 5-30 in the winter, most change shops put 10-30 in.
