Maf so on my way to work this morning, my sisters 1998 s10 threw a po172 code. which is a #1 bank too rich. everything that I am finding online is saying to check the MAF... but what am I looking for? I aint dealt with this new stuff, so Im stumped. I know where it is, but thats where it ends

what size engine is this?? a MAF malfunction will have an effect on both banks. if this model has o2 sensors for each pipe off the exhaust manifold, that is where i would start.

if it is not reading like it is supposed to than yes. those are going to adjust your fuel mixture slightly to compensate. this is why when you have a faulty 02 sensor, you tend to lose mpg.
