| Warming engine. Who here warms there engines before they get to going in the morning? My brother in law has a 2001 Jeep and he lets it run for about 10 minutes before he take off he says that's why his engine is so good. Now in cold climate I would say ok but here in TEXAS it's never that cold for that. I told him my truck is a 1993 GMC and I have never done that and she still runs like brand new and maybe he has to do that because it's not GM product. He! He! GMC ![]() |

| I'm in the cold, unless it's frosted, hit the remote start while getting shoes and coat on and then run it! The cars don't see much af a change but the allision in the cold does better if it has a little time to warm

| i start my stuff and let it sit there for a few moments. not because i want it to warm up but i want the oil to get into the vavle train good before i start hitting highway speeds. maybe 30 seconds in the summer time. |

| i just make sure the oil gauges pops up to 60psi before i put it in gear. i'm not a lead foot until the trans is warm enough to go into lockup.

| I let the trucks idle a minute or two, but just enough to let the oil pressure build. I then just drive gently until they warm up. I dont (nor do I suggest) letting an engine sit at idle to warm it up. |

| I'm with Merlin on this one. Also, I make very smooth throttle transitions most of the time I drive but esp. when the engine is cold. The exception to a brief warm up is for my motorcycles with carbs. I ride them out of the garage and away from the house a bit and then go put on my gear. I don't want to have to use any choke while riding off. (yeah I know on CV carbs it's called a start enrichinging circuit but the control is still labeled "choke") |

| During the winter I would let the truck run for like 5 minutes just for the fluids to get moving through everything, otherwise maybe a minute like while your adjusting the seat belt or radio.
