| change what exactly?? normally, those trucks are smokin hot when they come across the desert so pulling the hills between Cali and Nevada is going to make the temps rise a bit anyway. maybe thats what they are talking about. remind me if that model has that oil cooler tube on the side of the engine. |

| its a 2126. original everything ...... and caterpillar is going to come out and take off the california tuning, and open it up. they are also going to be doing an over head on the valves.......... It's up to me to just replace everything as far as the drive accesories and everything else. They never left California, and it only traveled 70 miles or so in any direction, and back. so, Im not sure if I will have as many problems or not, since I am pulling the california emmision stuff off, and replacing it. What are the things that could cause over heating, cause, As I said, I have 30,000 to spend on new parts..... I haven't messed with a 2126.... all of the service trucks have the 2116, and my old tire truck has a 3208. |

| if you have that kind of money, i would replace everything that i could. running the racks on one is not that much. for a 3406, it runs about 6 or 7 grand and that is alot more engine that what you are dealing with. everything new including the turbo is going to be in the 15K catergory. check the coolant for the mix, the t stat, and also the impeller in the water pump. it has a wear ring behind it that overtime will wear out and make it more difficult to push the necessary volume of water. |

| the anti freeze that is in it is a green color. I couldn't get an answer as to what kind they were using.... I am planning on replacing the entire cooling system, and have the radiator boiled. but other than that, I was wondering about...... I've been told, that there is other causes of overheating than the cooling system |

| tranny and gears are important, bigger rears and lots of gears keep teh work off the engine

| tranny and gears are out of the question. they only have 256 miles on a brand new axles(both in rear) and brand new transmission. besides that, as soon as this truck hits the mine property, It isn't going to leave under it's own power. I do all my work on site. and most of it I do at the shop, which is all level. so I just am wanting to keep it from over heating on the rare occasion that I have to take it up the 3 miles of 15% grade hill. |

| sorry I guess I should have asked what they are?? a 9 speed with big rears would not work it hard so the heat would not bother it! We have a 9000 for training and it has city gears in it so last shift is at 45mph

| too many variables to say. maybe it was the driver. keeping the truck in too high of gear up hill with load will heat it up to the point of melting pistons or other mechanical failure. some drivers drive these things like cars and you just cant do that. if the engine starts lugging, downshift. there is 8 other gears so you use them. some people have 14 other gears and some have 17 other gears. dont tell me that one didnt think about downshifting. |
