that was my initial thought too but they would have had to repaired the problem later on since everything is in working order now, without hooking that wire back up. irrelevant now though. i have a couple more of these chicken lights to replace and i should be good to go for another little while.

Based on that schematic, the lows should shut off when the high beams are on...

Could that wire be feeding the dash lights? The reason I thought of this is because on my truck the backlight for the switchbox that controls my lightbar and strobes is out. Checked the wire and it tapped into a wire in a bundle under the dash but that wire is dead. No idea what it's for but it's sure not the dash lights. So, to get the backlight working I need to tap into a feed that's hot when the parking lights are on. Forget trying to find the right wire under the dash for the dash lights... it's a rat's nest. So my next thought was to just run a wire through one of the grommets in the firewall and tap into one of the parking lights or markers. It occured to me then that your situation could be similar, but feeding the dash lights.

lordy, lordy. i really despise this driver. got a note here since i was unable to recreate the problem last weekend. in order for me to experience the problem, the clearance lights must be on. the brakes must be on. then turn on one of the turn signals (he failed to mention which one). in the time it took him to figure out how to do that, plus write the note, he could have fixed the stupid thing. i threw in some lights and plugs, few other things last weekend just in case the problem was still there. i am extremely put out and considering getting out of the diesel mechanic business.

go figure that a light was out. a simple 15 minute change out of the light assembly, no tools required, and it goes to working. i hate stupid people. or would that be lazy people??
