Yep, the Fury I's were the base model, and that's what most police departments bought when they bought Plymouths. The trim levels went I, II, III and Sport, then came the Gran Fury later on. Mine was a Fury III 4 door hardtop

He blew the tranny in his and put in a 4 speed, the way it was geared with tranny he put in and the highway patrol rear end, had to mash the gas to the floor to take off in first gear, we had it to 110 in 2nd gear and it wasn't close to being redlined, scary car to drive after that.

Reminds me of teaching my former BIL to drive. He'd never driven anything but video games. Thought the throttle was simply two positions, up or down. Glad I had him in low gear, but he still got it up to 45 before the rev limiter shut it down.

True that Kenny I got my 1970 GTO right on my 16 birthday I had ton's of fun with it. My friends dad had a older police Ford Galaxy or LTD that thing had a super duty suspension we would go over this double dip on some road and it never bottomed out no matter what speed we were going that thing even did better than our 1976 4x4 Scout we had. Back then the town we lived in only had two cop cars.

It not being the 70's didn't stop me in the 90's........ anything was game... but then again, the town I live in hasn't evolved much since then.
