| testing fuel injectors how do you test fuel injectors on a fuel rail? i gotta buy a pressure gauge in the morning to see if the pump is working right, but want to test the injectors also. i don't want to replace the injectors unless i need to, they cost 50 to 100 dollars a piece depending on the brand. |

| injectors really don't go bad. they got clogged up full of junk. Is it the 3.1 or 3.3? I'd pull the rail and clean them out, and the rail. Car might need a coil pack. They are notorious for that.

| it's got the 3.3 in it. the cars been parked in the garage for about 3 years and it just seems to be stumbleing over itself for the last few months. the fuel rail was clean and shiny when i removed the injectors, but there didn't seem to be much fuel coming out of the injectors. i was wondering if i could test the injectors and the harness with a multimeter. it's like junior said, bad things happen in threes. |

| the injector is a small solenoid that opens and closes. it doesn't spray, its only a valve that opens and closes. the pressure in the rail is what shoots the fuel. If you verify the fuel pressure is good, then you likely have a bad crank position sensor or a coil pack. I can't emphasize enough to check fuel pressure on every diagnose problem. I've must of said that two dozen times on this board already..
