It takes two consecutive quarters of negative growth to define a recession. Since we have not had one quarter of negative growth, how are the doom and gloom crowd so sure we’re in a recession? The answer is simple. If they can portray the economy in a bad light until the elections in November then they think people will be more likely to vote for Obama (who is not a Muslim). Don’t be fooled by the hype. There is a meaningful definition of the word “recession”. Let them control the language and that will be just one more aspect of your life the Dems will have control over.

Technically, no recession. Prices going up (inflation), uncertainty in jobs..... it feels like it. We'd rather spend our extra money on vacations, toys, upgrades, etc.

The war costs peanuts compared to the revenues the government receives...don't blame the war.

Speaking of oil, I hate the costs of gas just like everyone else.....but, does anyone realize that the government gets a bigger % of out of the costs of a barrel of gas than the gas companies creating the fuel? Where's the outrage for this? Their revenues are skyrocketing more than Exxon Mobile....but you never hear this. Everyone wants to blame the oil companies. It's rediculous listening to congress "drilling" the oil execs for making them feel guilty for hurting America. This is a quote from Sen. Dick Durbin (D). They want to cap profits of companies making less on a product than themselves......UNBELIEVABLE. They want them to look for alternative fuels. They are making alot of money.....why would they want to change that? The government is to blame for this so called "recession." Great idea with NAFTA (Pres. Clinton). Great idea Congress to go with ethanol...made mostly with corn. No wonder why food is costing more. You should have looked into a resource that's not used (i.e. the most abundant resource on the planet.......water!) We can't drill in our own land....but we have the nerve to request others to drill more? Countries are drilling off the shores of the US, but do we......of course not. Way to go environmental extremists.

I keep hearing the comment of going back to where we were. We are living in a different world....and policies made years ago....we are feeling the effects today.
It's unfortuneate that the current elected person is always to blame for current events.

I live in Michigan....and we are hurting here. I can't believe Gov. Granholm was re-elected.....what morons we have here. She wanted to raise taxes...and almost got away with it if it weren't for the outrage of voters who called their representatives to revoke the increases. She wanted to raise taxes because the revenues were so low because people are leaving this state! Great idea. She's finally getting it right, though....lower taxes and provide incentives so companies can build and create jobs.
