I was told many years ago that some guy was needing a part for his rear end and that the chevy bearing wouldn't fit because GMC was more HD/bigger like I said I just heard this I have not confirmed this.

well gmc is general motors product and so is chevy.
in my opinion gmc's are higher priced therefore leading me to believe that chevy's are a by product of gm
most differences are cosmetic plus very few other differences

after having chevy's except for an oldsmobile (another gm product) i seem to prefer the looks of gmc which is why i bought my gmc a month ago

hubby has a 94 silverado and mine is a 94...gmc sits up higher is about the only difference except for cosmetic...inside of mine has had a new stereo put in but the dash and everything else is the same as his truck

i think that is the companies way of getting you to pay more money but i wouldnt trade my gmc for anything

this is just a womans opinion..............lol

a badge or sticker does not make them different. it's like changing your name so you can marry your sister, your still related.

I have heard the same rumor, but if I had the money to dish out for a new one I wouldnt be complaining, its still a chevy!!! Just think of it as a collectors item!!!

well nowadays the only real differance is trimand front clips(fenders grill bumbers etc..) but i do know that my 64 gmc was built frame wise a little better than the chevys of the same year. in the 60s the gmc frames had no numbers and the chevys did. i do know that too.

There are a lot of differences actually.

The only body parts shared on my GMC with its Chevy equivalent are the tail gate and cab / doors shells. Every other body part is different. Drivetrains are basically the same in most of them with a few different available combinations.

Yes they are quite similar in many respects but I'd hardly call them the same. It is quite obvious that they come from the same family.

I'd go with saying they're the same. Yes, there's body differences, but the same could be said for different models in the same division. Under the "skin" though there's not much difference at all.

It is a funny question/POV. I am so dead set on getting a Chevy I see GMC's that fit the bill and turn my back on them. In reality if I'm so fiaxated on the bowtie I could just swap out the emblems.
