Yeah. I'm just stirring the pot a little here. Other than the cosmetic differences they are exactly the same truck.

NAH. It's just to hack off owners of lesser trucks.

So for those that think they are different...which one is better? I have owned Chevy's until recently I bought a 2007 GMC. I can't tell a difference. My neighbor bought a 2007 Chevy and the other neighbor bought a 2009 Chevy. We compared them all to each other and really no differences at all. Handeling, power, basic options, they were identical in most respects. So IMO they are very very close to the same and neither is better or worse than the other.

The only reason I bought a GMC was that I liked the looks better than the Chevy. Otherwise I see no difference in them.

My g/f drives a Dodge truck, I drive a GMC, my dad had a Chevy and my last truck was a Ford. Each has its pluses and minuses, each was liked or hated for different things. IMHO, trucks are a lot like people, with their own unique personalities and temperments, regardless of what company made 'em.

A few of you mentioned that there *used* to be differences outside of cosmetics. What time frame are we talking about? I have an 84 GMC C3500, does this fall into the cosmeticly different only bucket?

Also, if they are the same, why two different forums?

chevy forum:
4819 threads, 37442 posts
gmc forum:
1904 threads, 15345 posts

if they were combined, it would be alot more to sift through if one were looking for an individual thread. besides, we do get some people in here that doesnt know that there really isnt a differance in the 2 and require that name in order to post a thread. i.e. the people at my local AutoZone.
