if they were combined, it would be alot more to sift through if one were looking for an individual thread. besides, we do get some people in here that doesnt know that there really isnt a differance in the 2 and require that name in order to post a thread. i.e. the people at my local AutoZone.
They aren't just in your local store... Had one tell me my truck doesn't exist the other day, because she couldn't find it in her computer. When I pointed to it outside she claimed someone put the wrong badges on it. When I showed her the registration she claimed it must be an error in the paperwork. Absolutely refused to believe her computer could be wrong, or that she could be looking it up wrong.

After 1973 GMC and Chevrolet became one and the same other than cosmetic differences. It remains that way today with the exception of the Denali and a couple of other offerings. Back in the 60s GMC had a torque monster V6 and Chevy had an Inline six. There were other differences as well... If you go back before 1960 there were a lot more available mechanical differences as well.

Nice try but not entirely true. lt is true that the newer models are clones, but some of the older ones were very different trucks. 60s and older GMC and Chevy trucks had a lot of differences... even offered different engines, transmissions, configurations, etc.

Just because they were built by the GM doesn't mean they were always the same. That's like saying Chevrolet, Buick, and Oldsmobile were always the same...

Much the same at a cash register. My dad is EXTREMELY good and fast at math. He is also VERY honest.

He use to have the total and the change due in his head. He would get so PO'd that the cashier wouldn't believe him she was giving him back too much because "The machine said".

Well, as of right now, I have to say the gmc and chevy are close to the same..... I have been taking care of a fleet(46 vehicles) of that 26 are chevrolets, and 20 are GMC....... as far as mechanical parts go, there are a few differences, but nothing major... as far as exteriors go, the entire front clip, and the taillights are different.... other than that, everything else will bolt up....... I can say that the chevrolet front ends, transfercases and transmissions burn up before the GMC's do........ and if you swap a GM part into a chevrolet truck now, the part will no longer be warrantied by General motors, but if you put that new GM part into a GMC, the part is warrantied......hmmm....... what the @!@# !!!

C'mon man, "GMC" does not have the attitude of a bowtie. I know they are the same thing, but it's the principle. My brother and I drive basically the same truck, but his says "GMC" and mine has a bowtie...mines better.

Attitude? LOL...

Chevy... Chevy... I find myself remembering what a buddy told me the letters could stand for... Can't Hardly Escape a Vintage Yugo

GMC, on the other hand, sounds ... industrial. Like the letters are 6 foot tall and echo when you put 'em down.
