Uh-huh...right. Seriously though, I really did like that ratchet setup. Since that Elky (1965) I have had a '96 Z28 and a '02 Trans Am and wished both had the ratchet shifter. I have owned stick shift cars and really enjoy them. But living in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area and the traffic, I have relented and now only have autos.

HEY!!!! I could rip through all 3 gears in my F250.... Started in 2nd cause 1st was granny and than pount into 3 and than again into 4.... hahahaha LOL

I could light the tires starting in 2nd also. I kinda miss that truck. 1st gear is kinda torquy i nthe Yoda, I spin-em a little taking off on dirt/salt covered pavement. The clutch in the Yota has seen better days and I don't feel like replacing it untill at least spring so I take it easy on it. and I need to adjust the valves and get it timmed correctly.

Me too... Love that tranny. I start in 2 and just sit and spin, specially when it's raining

Tell me about the DFW traffic. It is terrible. My work truck has a 6 speed in it and i hate driving down 35 through FW during the day. AH if only people besides me knew how to drive.....

As for the sports cars. They are fun. My mustang has the 5 speed in it and there is nothing better then slamming gears in that thing. hearing 2 and sometimes 3rd gear (this car has 120,000 miles on the 4.6L V-8) bark the tires. Still amuses me. For as many miles this car has i'm surprised the motor hasn't quit yet. They have been some seriously hard miles.

Lets go one further. Favorite 4 speed (or standard trans.). Had a '65 Mustang - 289, 4bbl,4 speed (Borg-Warner - close ratio - factory equipment). That car sounded great when you were on it... and clutch not required after first gear.

Nope never been to Kennedale. Could'nt even tell you where it's at.

Talking about close ratio trannies. My buddy has an 80 model Z28. ZZ4 Crate, Borg warner 4 speed, 3.08 posi. That ****** will do some serious take offs but tops out at about 105 in 4th gear turning about 6800 rpm's. If it had 1 more gear it would be a serious contender.

I didnt vote, It doesnt matter to me either way. The stick shift intimidates alot of peopole, but I have had alot of both so it makes no difference to me
