IFS vs. straight axle

I have one of each and prefer straight axle for articulation what does others think?

390FE will become famous soon enough
They both have there good and bad points.

I loved the straight axle on my 83 F250 but I like the ride of the ifs in the toyota, bronco, explorers. But I also felt the 83 could take quite a bit more beating than the others with IFS.

I also don't do a lot of off roading. I cave a car and got bitten by the auto-x bug. I love the IFS and IRS and low stance for cornering.

I DO offroad and I have offroaded both very vigorously. I am satisfied with IFS, however when IFS breaks, it's much more complicated of a fix than Solid Axle... So I vote for Solid Axle

IFS for the smoother ride down the road, but if i had a mud truck it would be solid. solid cheaper to lift and fix.

i love sloid axles. i did not buy a truck for the ride. i bought it to work and not break. that is also why i have a ford. ifs is good for the tar, just pulling trailers and getting groceries but thats about ti. once it starts getting worn out you can never stop all the rattling, and the noise is not brand specific, they all do it. solid axle is fewer parts, fewer problems. but if you insist on having IFS the best for off road is the twin i-beam.
