| The early broncos didnt, 78 and 79 did. It came as an option, not stock. There was also a choice of the 400ci V8.

| Well form what I understand from prowling the diesel forums for years, the general concensus is that they are all good stock vs. stock. The 7.3 seems to be the most reliable, albeit with the lowest hp/tq numbers of the "newer" diesels. Have not heard or read alot of good things about the Ford 6.0l. I tend to see alot of them on the road though. Chevy's Duramax's are the rarest, but make the most power. Cummins imo has the best of both. Plenty of power, and great reliability. The truck around it is questionable...the newer trucks seem better built. The Powerstrokes can't compete when it comes to modding them though. The Cummins and D'max blow them away when it comes to hp/tq numbers and 1/4 mile times. With that said I wouldn't turn any of them away. With good maintenance they will all last a good long time. |

| how many tractors, semis, or offroad applications with a ps. or duramax, both great motors but my cummins powered allis chalmers will eat anything. spools fast and very strong. these are light duty diesels but who has the most experience and proven reliability, not to mention servicability in the industry, the I6s. CUMMINS baby. the venerable N14. Solid American reliability!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! maybe the solution to gm's financial wo's would be to put a cummins in MY truck. |

| The funny thing about this arguement is how much the trucks all have in common. Injections pumps & systems, axles, transfercases, turbos, the list goes on an on. To anwser this question of "who is the best" is really a matter of opinion and "it depends". I voted for a Duramax because I own one, but I could not definitaly tell you one is "the best" out of them all. Last edited by merlin5577; 01-04-2009 at 12:11 PM. |
