The early broncos didnt, 78 and 79 did. It came as an option, not stock. There was also a choice of the 400ci V8.

Well form what I understand from prowling the diesel forums for years, the general concensus is that they are all good stock vs. stock. The 7.3 seems to be the most reliable, albeit with the lowest hp/tq numbers of the "newer" diesels. Have not heard or read alot of good things about the Ford 6.0l. I tend to see alot of them on the road though. Chevy's Duramax's are the rarest, but make the most power. Cummins imo has the best of both. Plenty of power, and great reliability. The truck around it is questionable...the newer trucks seem better built. The Powerstrokes can't compete when it comes to modding them though. The Cummins and D'max blow them away when it comes to hp/tq numbers and 1/4 mile times. With that said I wouldn't turn any of them away. With good maintenance they will all last a good long time.

Not all of them had this issue, but it was a known problem in the 6.0 powerjoke series.I am sure it is fixed by now, but people are ranting because they dont like carrying around spare parts in the glovebox so when it dies you plug it in and continue to the nearest parts store and buy a replacemnt.

My advice would be not to listen to alot of us unqualified idiots, do the research and see what you find. i would be interested to know what you decide when you have done your homework. Sorry for the rant, but i had to clear up that mess.
my brother has an o5 dodge r/c 4wd auto at about 30k miles first went out and it would slip in od. at 56k miles one of six, thats right six oil pumps, went out i burnt the entire motor up and had to be replaced with an o7 model. and dodge told us it had six oil pumps, one for each cylnder

a powerJOKE sounds like a blanket flappin in the wind. i prefer the sound of my 5.3 screaming at 5600 RPM. lets see a diesel turn that

how many tractors, semis, or offroad applications with a ps. or duramax, both great motors but my cummins powered allis chalmers will eat anything. spools fast and very strong. these are light duty diesels but who has the most experience and proven reliability, not to mention servicability in the industry, the I6s. CUMMINS baby. the venerable N14. Solid American reliability!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! maybe the solution to gm's financial wo's would be to put a cummins in MY truck.

The funny thing about this arguement is how much the trucks all have in common. Injections pumps & systems, axles, transfercases, turbos, the list goes on an on. To anwser this question of "who is the best" is really a matter of opinion and "it depends". I voted for a Duramax because I own one, but I could not definitaly tell you one is "the best" out of them all.

Sort of. Ford uses Powerstrokes which are made by international. Dodge uses Cummins which are made by Cummins, and GM uses Duramax which is made by Isuzu.
