Yeah, no. Theyre just as bad. They came with big V-8's and diesels. They get roughly 8-12 mpg.

Okay Pete, my Subaru sips gas, my brothers cobalt even stores some for a rainy day, but an SUV of that size is going to do more then sip fuel. Sorry to burst your bubble....LOL...

lol, you have an average size suv, lets say about the size of a suburban, a new one. a gas one, and they average (correct me if im rong) 11-13 mpg hwy, and 9 city, mayeb more, like 10 city, but you have a centurion with a diesel, around the same size as a sub, and they get aorund 20 hwy, 15 city, excursion with 6.8 v10, (i know this is true, my dad traded his for the diesel) 11 hwy, and 9 city, excursion with diesel, 18 city, 14 towing, and 21 hwy. thats pretty darn good for an suv of that size.

15mpg is still drinking when I am copmaring to a little 4 banger that averages 30 in the city... see my point? When someone says the vehicles "sips" fuel, i see numbers like that. Maybe it does not gulp it like my old dodge 318 did, but it still does not store some for a rainy day....LOL.

A centurion does gulp fuel. They get about the same gas mileage as a F-250 truck. They all had either big V-8s or diesels. They get maybe 11 to 15 at best. Show me a centurion that gets 20 mpg and I'll sell you some oceanfront property in Arizona.

you're very right pete, the diesel does get better FUEL mileage than a GAS engine. but that is the issue. you're comparing 2 things with non-common denominatiors. you've gotta factor in the price of diesel compared to the price of regular gas..... hate it for yea, but it gulps fuel. and a suburban is not you're average sized SUV. its above average. the average size we be a tahoe/exploder/4-runner....
