Temperature sending unit location

Where is the Temperature sending unit located? My gage works sometimes and sometimes it jumps up and down. I think there is a short.

type of engine could help narrow it down, but it should be on the side of the engine block.

Its a 4cyl. 2.4.

A 22RE.

It's on the passengers front of engine from what I can tell.
