Vibration / clicking noise

2000 4runner, 2wd, 4 cyl., (A/T)
Sometimes I can hear a metalic clicking ("click... click, click, click") when starting to move in reverse and drive. Sounds like it might be coming from the rear but it's hard to pin point.
While driving, there is a strong vibration. I can feel this in my feet, and through the gear shifter (A/T). This vibration happens at all speeds, all RPMs as long as the accelerator is depressed. The moment I take my foot off the gas and let the vehicle coast the vibration stops. The moment I apply gas the vibration starts. When the truck is in Neutral (no matter the RPM) no vibration occurs. No vibration when in PARK and any RPM.
I'm looking for possibilies before I start replacing the u-joints and other things to check while replacing u-joints.
Thank you for stopping in.

Sounds to me like you need a universal joint bud. And from the consitancy of the noise, i would not wait to long. if it gives, and you drop the drive shaft, you will be looking at much much more parts to replace. U-joints are realitively inexpensive and easy to install.

Sounds like a Ujoint to me. Also sounds like an unbalanced driveshaft. Have you been offroading or driving somewhere where you may have dented your driveshaft?
