all kinds of problems 93 toyota

i was on the highway and my truck suddenly sstarted to cound funny. by the time i got to my exit the truck was shaking pretty violently and i had lost alot of power. when i down shifted to 4th gear this coninued. when i got to a stop light the truck was reving between 1000 and 1500 rpm all by its self. i had trouble getting up hills and had to shift all the way down to first to get up my driveway. i got out of my truck and it smelled like something burning. i let it cool down and started it a few hours later. with the clutch fully depressed it was running high at a little over 2000 rpm. when i put it in reverse at backed up i got alot of exaust smoke and the issue with little power continued. the next time i started it there was a fairly loud sreeching noise. when i got under it there was a pretty good oil leak coming from somewhere around the clutch. my first instict says its a cracked the pressure plate and the clutch is slipping but im not sure does anyone have any input? thanks for the help!!!

I am a little curious about the symptoms. Was the clutch slipping, and this is described as the loss of power? How would this have made the engine rev higher at 1000 to 1500 rpm? The clutch and anything associated with this would not have had any effect on the engine.
Now are you sure that the oil leaking was oil? Maybe it could have been something else? Could it have been hudraulic fluid? Maybe? Could this be a leaky slave cylinder? Could the fluid have contaminated the clutch plate and caused it to start slipping?I do not know how this will cause exhaust smoke, or a lack of power.

Might need a little more of a description to determiine what this problem could be.

yea i have no explination for the reving it just does it any time the clutch is depressed. thats the biggest thing im curious about. ur right i didnt think to check if it was indeed hydrolic fluid. the smoke once again no clue it just all happened pretty randomly and all at the same time (or within the time it took to drive home). i just know that there was a loss of power and a strong shaking which kinda just made me thing oh the clutch is slipping. i love my truck and just really want to know if it is worth the work casue i dont know wat one thing would cause all these problems and so suddenly.

it felt like it was slipping but like u said it wouldnt effect everything else that happened.

what is the the motor? 4cyl or v6?

Welcome to the forum 89funtime.

Last time he was here in March he was "looking for a preformance exhaust system ".
Before that in Feb he changed the engine and clutch with no change in symptoms.
im so mad!!!!
