Bad yoda I have a 94 4x4 pick up that's been sitting in my yard for acouple of years now and I can't part with it .The truck has had the whole front end gone though and new leaf springs 'new flat bed ,fuel pump, the truck is in good shape all but the motor.I bought the truck with 198 miles on it . going to work started making a noise and over heated . I pulled the oil pan drain and anti-freeze and oil came out all white [not good "Bad Yoda"] Replaced with used motor ,which the guy put in with new cluch at the same time . Got about 800 miles out of it before that motor went ,just stalled out after takeing off and would turn over really fast but thats it .Parked it after that ,been there ever since .There's a guy that has a 78 2x2 pick-up with a motor with 6oo miles on it but it's not a 22re ,just a22r .Is there anyway to use this ?Or is it time to just let it go?

I think that the 22r is the carburated version of the 22re..... not sure. you should be able to use it though, and the 22 R is a very good motor, as far as the stock toyo motors go.

I didn't know if I could use the motor as is or have to change alot of things to make it work . I was thinking that it might be to old [1978] to match up to my [1994] but I'll look into it more .I'm picking it up free ,so if for some reason it won't work I'm not out much.

hmmmm...... That is quite an age difference. however, I was told that a person can get a used motor(like 25,000 miles) from japan, due to their extreme emissions, they will sell motors for 500or 600..... or so I have been told. I dont know if its true, but you might look into that

I think u should be fine if you wanna use the carburated motor... you'll just end up with alot of unplugged wires which could cause alot of dummy light issues since it's such a new truck...dang computers...lol Ive swapped carburated for fuel injection motors and u have to change the wiring harnesses as well... but to downgrade u shouldn't have much of a problem.... It's hard telling with all of the computer components though... your best bet is to import... I'd stick with the 22re... something will fall into your lap if you give it time
