I would say find out first what gears you have it might be something else like your dizzy might not be working correct like if it binds that will cause a lot of problems but this is just an example. Wait for others to chime in like Leo, 75K30 and so on.

is this the 22re with the 33s?? it does make alot of power but not with those size tires. 4 bangers really arent meant to propel rubber like that without some serious gear reduction. guaranteed that you dont have enough gears in the rear to make it go down the road like it should. being that you have a 4wd, plan on doing both front and rear to keep everything right.

so i did indeed get your truck right then?? whew. toys make excellent toys, nice play on words there right??, but in order for the engine to keep up with the over size tires, other mods are needed. a gear reduction my be the ticket but you might also look into changing out the axles as well. yodas, if not mistaken, interchange out with alot of other types of axles fairly easy. for costs purposes, it might be cheaper, and easier, to just buy a front end and back. only other thing you might try would be a 4 to v6 swap with the tranny but this is probably not going to be feasible as you have expressed that you do not want to blow a ton of money at this time on the truck.

You got it!! I've been researching and found that my gears are 8" 4.10 and with the tires I have it would be more practical to go to either a 4.88 or 5.29 for 33'' tires... does this sound right? And would I install in both the front and back?

YES. if you dont, when you try to put it into 4wd, the front will turn at a different speed that the rear and WILL cause damage. i reckon that sounds about right. there is a pretty good size differance between 4.88 and 5.29 so be choosy and do a little more research. http://www.4x4connection.com/gearchart.htm
