put fresh fuel in it ,seems to have good pressure at the pressure regulator

what is "seems to have good pressure" mean?? the injectors wont lite up until your pressure is up to par. have you confirmed that the injectors are even firing?? might take a multimeter and test them out by accessing the leads to each injector.

i broke the inlet line at the regulator loose and there was pressure there.guess i will have to hook a guage to the regulator to find the exact pressure.i will check the injectors with a meter but i cant really see that being a problem cause the motor will fire on ether.maybe a bad regulator?

its a possibility. but the engine will run on ether just means that it has fuel, ign, and air. your problem seems to be with fuel and this could be from low pressure. an injector will not spray if the fuel pressure is below a certain amount. this is why i suggested doing a pressure test. if pressure is fine, move to the controls for the injectors.

i couldnt find a pressure gauge but what i did do was remove the regulator then jump out the fuel pump and fuel flowed out of the rail.i then reinstalled the regulator without the 2 port hoses connected and again i jumped out the fuel pump no fuel came out of the regulator ports.is one of the ports on the regulator a return line and the other goes to the cold start?could the fuel pump still be bad even if it runs, or is it a bad regulator?

you mentioned that the pressure did come up so a problem with the pump is more or less ruled out. not completely but more than likely, it is ok. since you done all that to the regulator, did you get any fuel whatsoever to that check port?? does seem like this is pointing to a bad regulator but cant tell you that is the problem without knowing what pressures it is putting up.

ok, dumb question. when was the last time you replaced the fuel filter??

i am going to hook a holley electric pump to a 5 gallon can and the gas inlet of the regulator and see if it will run with the 90 psi the pump puts out.if it dosent run that will rule out the factory pump being bad
