Need Advice.

Well I'm looking for a good truck.
I live in Anchorage, AK and on a road that sometimes will not be plowed for days at a time. So 4x4 is a must.

Now I'm posting here because I have found 2 Toyota pickups for sale in the lower 48 and was wondering if they sound like a good deal.
I've heard that Toyota's engines and transmissions will easily go over 100k miles if taken care of.
I'll be mainly driving this to/from school and work. So annually I'm expecting less than 10,000 miles. My school is 3 miles from me and when I find a job it will be no more than 10 miles away.

These are the two trucks.
2000 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 SR5 Extended Cab
1997 Toyota T-100 109,000 miles

What exactly is the difference between a 1500 and 2500?

Parts are pretty easy to get up here, every other vehicle on the road is a truck.

I would walk to school, but in the winter with low visibility and inexperienced high school drivers on the road...I'd rather live than get run over.
