2000 Tacoma pinging issue

My 2000 Tacoma 4x4 with 3R motor started pinging loudly when I started it. Engine seemed to run fine but when I turned the key off it ran for about 1 min before stopping. This truck had the block assy replaced at dealer with 22400 miles due to a bad oil change. It now has about 55000 miles on it. When I started it the other day I noticed a loud rattle or ping seemed to be in the top end. Motor was running fine up to this point. An engineer for toyota in wva said it might be an antiknock sensor. Anybody have this issue before? Its hard to believe the timing chain would go out this soon.

it may have a leaky injector, check your plugs, see if one is black.

I"ll check. Is this something that happens out of the blue?

certainly possible, not to familiar with your truck but its a possibility, end of the injector could of broke, or cracked, dumping fuel in.
