squealing sound on start up

From my i-dont-know-the-year 4runner. This thing squeals nice and loud for a minute or so when i start the car up cold. Its very annoying, and sometimes happens when the engine is revved.

Bad belt? Help a friend out.

Wild guess catagory but here's a thought.
Cold belts are tighter and may be loading the pulleys more.
Maybe when warm and not squealling you can tighten belts
and see if occurs. Squeal sound like a pulley to you?
Funny- "dont-know-the-year 4runner" - probably late '60s LOL

is there any remedy for a glazed belt other than replacement?

belt dressing will help for a while but when they are shot it's time to replace

Run a bar of soap on the belt that way you can see if it's the belt. The soap will lube the belt enough for you to see if that's it. Oh watch them fingers god gave you.
Good luck! GMC
PS-That once happen to my truck but it turned out to be a cat poor thing bought the farm. On our older 626 we had the harmonic balancer would make a strange sound what was happening is the rubber on it wore out and it was slipping.
