22RE Engine Replacement

Hi all,
I'm looking to replace my engine either with a new, preferably & for the right price, or remanufactured. This is for my 94 toyota small pickup.

What companies specialize in building these type of engines other than Toyota that have excellent reputation in these type of engines, been around a long time and have reasonable prices?

Would you say remans are just as good or better than the new ones? If so, what companies specialize in this type of engine?

I say specialize because I saw some companies online building & selling these alone but I don't know if they are any good so any recommends would be much appreciated.

i have always had great luck with reman engines, but like you, have been choosy about who i get these from. word of mouth is about the best way to find out who is reputable or not so try to stick local. i know this maybe difficult but i ended up driving 150 miles one way to an engine builder in Houston to find the one i bought from.
people that specialize in these engines usually only do these specific models and usually dont deal too much with stock engines. broaden your search for general builders and you will stumble upon someone. ask several shops in your area for opinions. everyone has one and usually the one that gets named the most is your guy.

L C Engineering is the only company I have found, but they specialize in high performance 22RE engines. The lowest price tag is about 4k.
