94 Overheating - Page 3

NO, My last sentence is, I still lean more toward water pump. But, I also say, if its not a water pump, then IMO it will be a cracked head, not a blown head gasket. Find you a cheap water pump and go from there.

Anyway you could take a video of what is going on and post it on here??

Did you rule out the fan operation?? How well did we flush the system could have a blockage somewhere in the block causing a hotspot. RARE but maybe.

fan seemed to be working we put the hose in the top and flushed out the bottom seem to come through really good. but question is why would it get so hot and boil over in 10mins but there was still no heat coming from the heater ? any clues? you would think as hot as it got it would have put out some heat.

I think you just answerd why your getting hot. If you have no heat than the pump is not pumping/creating flow. I would definitely check your pump. It boils over so fast casue the coolant is just sitting there getting boiled like water in a pot on a stove. only take 10minutes to boil water even faster at higher altitudes.

If the heater is hooked up and its getting that hot, and still not heat from the heater, then that tells you its the water pump. Its not pumping water to the heater core.

Or, also a blockage to the heater core. Does the upper hose come off the water pump or the intake manifold?

This is what I found.

From what I have seen looks like the pump is ran by the timing belt. Pull an inspection cover and see the condition of the belt could tell you if it is slipping on a seized water pump pulley.

Maybe the pulley came lose and it's just spinning.

yes the pump is run by the timing belt , do think first it would be worth it to take the t stat out and see what happens ? if it gets hot and boils over then we know its not that or is that just a waste of time ? just for the heck of it, if it was the head gasket why wouldn't i get heat out of the heater ?

A blockage to the heater core or your blend air doors are not redirecting air flow pass the heater core.

Well you have to ask is it worth the lose of coolant and another gasket for it not to be the Tstat?
