What is a fair price for a really nice truck? Looking at a 1994 Toyota truck with extended cab, V6, Manual trans, under 60000 miles, No rust on body or frame, new tires, and spare offroad tires. He is asking $7000. In anyones opinion is that fair, or what is fair?

7 grand for a 15 year old truck?? true that yotas dont depreciate like the other 3 but lord. i think that is a wee bit too much even for the mileage. sure hope it is prestine condition.

Yeah, I hear you. I do want this truck. The best I could come up with at Kelley Blue Book for excellant private party condition, was 5300.00. How do you convince someone who's price is unreasonable, what is fair for their truck?

you dont because no matter what you say, that truck is worth that to him. the best you can do is offer him the price you feel its worth and the worst thing that could happen is him consider your offer rude. parts ways and keep searching. does the truck have any mods or upgrades?? new parts??

| Brad as usual is correct. I'll add is it worth that to you? Have you monitored trucks for sale in this category? I have been searching for about a year now and stepped it up in the last 60 days. I watched both dealer and private sales from CL postings to net searches.(region specific) CL and a weekly trader(penny saver, hitchin post etc.) will have better deals than say a Truck Trader and/or Car Soup I am getting a truck and some may or may not agree with the price of it but I liked it so much I didn't haggle. I approached the deal factoring in what had been replaced, what had been modified how it was up kept and how much I would spend in the long run to make a "lesser" vehicle (in price and mods) to what it sits at. KBB is a nice reference but as stated the value of a vehicle lies somewhere between what the buyer thinks it's worth and what the seller does. Also region specific factors in. A 2X4 truck with a 6 cylinder might go for X in New York but not worth squat in Colorado. If for some reason you feel this is a bit above your comfort zone price wise I would suggest you determine the maximum amount of miles you are willing to travel to test drive and then purchase a truck. Sometimes a 30 minute drive off the beaten path could save you some $$$!! Good luck ![]()
