| It sounds like a float or needle valve issue of some sort. Did you put in a new needle valve and seat, is it in properly. Take it apart when you move the float up and down does it move freely. Thats about all the advice I could give, chevyguy is smart, he may be able to help you more with this. Im not really sure about alot of things but the fact that it was wet with fuel and the glass being full when it's suposed to be half full. Is the glass piece a float adjustment indicator of some sort, I dont know what you mean by this. One more thing, did you put a high volume fuel pump on this vehicle, if you did you may need a fuel presure regulator installed. My brother in law put a high volume fuel pump on his camaro and had problems with the fuel presure getting too high at times and that would force the needle valve open and fload his engine. He had to go back to a stock fuel pump or get a regulator. I dont know if you have made any changes here or not though. |

| Truck man is on the right path. Sounds like some gradu got in the float vavle somehow. Usually when you go thru a carb you open it up to outside elements. I think you probally have something in the float valve, or improper float level/ If the site glass in full then you are getting way more fuel in the bowl than needed and it is dumping the extra down the throat of the carb and flooding it with raw unmetered fuel. Definately agree with truck man here. Check float and float fuel circuit

| wow this is an old thread. i know its something to do with the float, i had three techs look at it, they all dont know whats wrong with it. so i just parked it and it hasnt move sents. im waiting to get out of college before i deside what i'll do with it. or if someone in my family pays for a professional rebuild, or a whole new carb.

| The float should control the level in the sight glass. If it is filling up past the middle of it then the float is not closing off the gas the way it should. Toss that oem carb & make your life simpler with a weber 32/36 with water (dgav), electric (dgev) or manual (dgv) choke. Much cheaper & easier rebuilds. I have had a dgev but went with dgv with manual choke. That was about 20 years ago. Been rebuilt maybe 3 times at most. Still works like champ. No mysto fuel issues at all. We're talking about 280k worth of driving-abusive driving. I probably still have the factory one in a box somewhere in the garage. Lemme know if you need something oem off it. My truck was originally '82 2wd 1/2 ton. Not sure how much the same it would be since '80 was 20r & mine is 22r. I believe the fitment on the intake would be pretty much the same just not sure how different connections off of it would be.

| has to ba float issue, the sight glass should be half and half. The float or flaot vale have to be the culprit.
