Less horsepower, I think the Tundra has 280 horsepower while the Chevy/GMC 1500s have 300 horsepower, I think.

Performance wise, I think it will do anything the others can do in pulling power and stength. There is just less horsepower.

My 02 Tundra with the iforce v8 is awesome! It keeps right up with my mom's chevy 1500. It gets better gas mileage too.

I ALWAYS have people talking about how quick their (typically 4X4) Tundras seem to run and their power to weight ratio is actually quite good even with the older 4.3L 250HP engine(about). I have seen some magazine reviews on half ton pickup comparisons and they like to show the Tundra as the quickest through a quarter mile unloaded. The secret to the Tundra's performance is it's lack of weight(and size) being somewhere around the low 4000LBS, some near 1000LBS weight advantage towards other 4WD half ton pickups. The Titan and Hemi series Dodge run similar I suppose and respectable but Toyota's more current 4.7L option should still run better unloaded. If Nissan put any of the science behind their 350Z 3.5L DOHC VVTL engine(or ANY of their DOHC VVTL engines) into their Titan they would have a pickup that made flat torque from just above idle to redline and about 480 horsepower at the transmission. Definetly a potent powerplant without being high strung with some aftermarket tweaking over the Toyota and other alternatives.

Important note: The 5.7L Hemi engines in the Dodge pickups that are so common now only dyno in the range of 260RWHP or so and suggest a peak flywheel horsepower rating of only 300-310HP despite their 345HP rating from the factory.

No big, it's still useful in the future... it's just that usually there is an effort to discourage bumping old posts
