Exclamation Serious Frame Rust Problem

I have a '94 regular cab 4x4. I already had to pull off the rear bumper b/c of severe rust. Now I see that the passenger side rear leaf spring bracket is about to fall off b/c where it attatches to the frame, rust has completely eaten the metal away. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did they do to fix it? Thanks

i would treat it with some rust killer and then have it undercoated.

390FE will become famous soon enough
Unfortunatly the toyota'a are prone for getting ROT in that area. I thought after 88 they fixed the problem tho. Guess not. Your best bet is to take it to a good welding shop and have the ROT cut out and a new piecs of steel welded in and a new spring mount put on. The shop should be able to tell you if the metal there is savable or not as well.

I had to get some frame work done on my 87 this past December. More than you need done but its a Toyota and worth it.

while you're there, I'd have them inspect the whole frame, and especially the crossmembers for other potential weak points to save you the hassle of making return trips.
