hey barberdan - ebay air filters

i think i saw you mention those cheap adaper plate/cone filter sets on ebay for a 22re

i was wondering, if you have one, what do you do with that extra hose that runs along the intake tube and connects to the air box? put a little mini air filter on it? or find some way to connect it to the big hose or what?

I remember my air intake kit having the plumbing from the throttle body to the air sensory as well as the adapter plate and cone filter. There was no tap on the pipe between the throttle body and air sensor as stock has that connects to the ballon shaped container. The part came in and I has to use my dremel in the inside of the air filters mounting since it was too small but thick enough once I bored it out it fit well. I don't know if this filter is totally neccesary but I believe the balloon was a intake direction device because it was connected to the intake plumbing. The 22RE certainly runs fine without it but I didn't want to take any chances.

If you're talking about having some hose on your adapter plate at the air sensor than I really don't know what to say about that. Maybe it's for a breather that acts as a snorkel if your using extraneous piping that might place the end of your intake plumbing and filter in a location that might become submerged.
