nooB...

hey just thought i would introduce myself to the forum. um i reside in the little town of Seward Alaska and it sucks. i own two Toyota's right now and i would like to get a 20R or 22R powered Toyota Truck because well i want a truck . i would like to go turbo with it, only with a little bit of boost and have heard that the 20R and the 22R engines are bullet proof making a perfect opertunity for a low-boost engine.

what years should i look for (kinda on a cheap buget) what to look out for and how much do they usally go for?

Thanks in advance

they're good trucks, but they're not fast. are you talking about a turbo? they have a turbo-powered 22re. i've never driven one. but mine has the regular 22re, and what can i say, it's just a pretty slow sohc 4 cylinder. but they do seem to last forever, so its worth it if you get your use out of it

get a fuel-injected one...i think they are all fuel-injected in the early nineties, and it was an option from '86 up. more efficient, and possibly more reliable

i'd say try and get an early 90s pickup...the older it is, the more problems it will probably have sooner, and you know, people are known to drive these trucks into the ground, because they can take it for so long...especially the 4x4s. just look at what you're buying up close...because a 22re can go for 3, 400k miles, and there's a lot of other maintenance people forget about when they have this truck has never broken down

oh, and don't call yourself a noob. that **** is lame

street racer, you

great idea, i hope you know what you are getting yourself into

i suppose Alaska is a cold place, but if you can make traction with a 2wd, it will help you with acceleration
hte way i see 4wd taking off quick is i they have at least 500 hp, otherwise it is just unnecessary weight and resistance to the engine

find yourself a free program on hte web that will give you time and speed for quarter mile, given weight and power fo the vehicle. research evo and wrx results and see where you need to aim with the power on your truck

i once street raced a wrx with my 81 528, there was a cop no more than 1/8 mile down the road , he cooled us off
