the 33s will be fine but you will find it lacks top end power. Why not go 4 inch suspension lift, 33s and regear. Make it run as good as it will look. And regear is better than turbo charging in this case becasue it allows the motor to run in its power range angain after the bigger tires are installed.

yuh, you asked so we told you that we dont think a lifted toyota is anything special, but do what you want as long as you like it thats all that matters really , take pictures and maybe you could change a few minds

anything can get in the air... that "hill" climb isnt tht impessive. you the camera angle makes it look steeper than it really is. i'm guessin he had it in 4 to climb it too.... but back to your question (even though you dont care what we think) i'm not sure the expense to regear, but the main problem you run into to is the strength of your new gears and the axel itself. lower gears generally require smaller teeth on the gears themselves which means they can sheer off easier. i'm also not sure of the stock size axel on your toyota, but generally stock axels wont hold any abuse from too much larger than stock tires. if its just a mall craller you'll be fine.

"but go for something that is going to be reliable! toyota is not your answer"

you have no idea what you are talking about. let me clarify - for many people, toyota defines reliability in vehicles. especially with their trucks. and that goes double for the 4 bangers - i dont care if you think your big f-whatever is louder and more powerful and cooler - these are the most reliable engines on the planet. if you want to drive fast, get a v8. if you want the most reliable and efficient 4x4 truck available, get a toyota

" plus i dont know how into style your going for but a toyota truck with big tires and exhaust and added power is kinda lame"

ok...set aside your prejudice against foreign cars that you inherited from your daddy. what is "kinda lame" about building a toyota up for power and putting big tires on it? i assure you, doing it to a ford or a dodge is just as lame, eats more gas, and is even less reliable

silly little girl driving a big truck

oh yeah, in response to the original question...i think your ideas about lifting your truck (because you basically want a monster truck) are a little unrealistic. what do you need the body lift for? just do a suspension lift. it doesnt have to be 10 feet off the ground, you just have to fit the tires. and you don't need anything bigger than 33s. your best bet would be to just keep it simple and go with 31s, unless you plan to regear. the new v6s (meaning not the old 3.0s) do pretty well. ****, the 2.7 liter 4 cyl does pretty **** well. it puts out as much power as the old 3.0 v6 and still gets 20mpg

they aren't v8s, thats for sure. but there comes a point, when you're trying to put bigger and bigger tires on a truck, where you have to decide - do i want to drive fast, or do i want a gnarly off-road machine? if you're putting 33 or bigger tires on it, i hope you are getting some actual offroad use out of it. the way you talk about lifting it, with plans of building this monster truck, it sounds like its just a thing for the looks...i don't know man, its your money (or is it?), spend it the way you want. big tires put a lot of stress on everything - if you want to keep it reliable and fuel-efficient on the road, you need to find a balance. 33s will probably work, but you'll probably need to regear. yes, its expensive.
