| i have a 2007 Taco v6...6spd std offroad 4x4 with the electric 4wd selector. I want to manuver in low range speed without the hubs locked in. I have been doing the for the last 19 years in my manual locking hubs to reduce speed, increase torque and easy backing boat trailers. My new truck wants to go FAST in reverse making it difficult to manuver a trailer and the torque is low. When I select 4wd it is strains to turn and manuver. How do I modify the system to connect a switch to lock in the hubs when i need them? |

| Gonna shoot from the hip here since I just do not know the Taco's too well after they went independant up front. I believe you can install a set of manual hubs up front. The selector will engage the transfer case, but not allow the front wheels to recieve power. I beleive that Downwy made a kit for the earlier ones, but not sure about the 07. I believe that the front axle disconnect will have to be addressed, and modified, but I think If I remeberr correctly it could be left engaged with a little modificaltion, or could be upgraded to a one piece axle. |
