Kenwood Exelon X790C for sale

I had a beautiful stereo in my BMW that I will never use again. It is the model listed above. Bought brand new with this years model line. I would hate to sell it, but I have no use for it.

CD player with built-in MOSFET amplifier (22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels)
motorized, fold-down faceplate with multicolor fluorescent display
plays CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs (including discs loaded with MP3, WMA, and AAC files)
Graphic Motion Analyzer
ACDrive gives verbal confirmation of digital music folders and files
System Q EX Sound Control (6 preset tone curves and a 3-band parametric equalizer)
System E's+ Advanced Crossover system
24-bit digital-to-analog converter
satellite radio controls (SIRIUS or XM subscription, tuner, and antenna required to receive the satellite radio signal)
HD Radio ready (will control Kenwood's HD Radio tuner)
controls for Kenwood's optional iPod interface adapter
CD changer controls
auxiliary input
dual zone audio control
3 sets of 5-volt preamp outputs
CR-2 tuner
18 FM/6 AM presets
wireless remote
clock
CD frequency response: 10-20,000 Hz
CD signal-to-noise ratio: 110 dB
FM sensitivity: 9.3 dBf

Originially I paid $635 for this unit. Only in my vehicle for about two months before the car died. It powered Two Kicker DVC style subs and a Pionerr 1300 watt mono block amp. Stereo and sound kicked A$$!!! Will sell the stereo, and ship to you. If you want the Amp I can include it, subs have already been sold. I am asking $500. I will include shipping sent USPS priority. However, if you prefer Fed Ex, UPS, DHL or an over night delivery, OR you wish to include insurance, that will be on you. If you are interested, PM me here, or email me @ junior3382@hotmail.com. I will answer any questions you may have.

I can take actual pics and post them if you like, these pics are stock photos.

You got a pretty quick sale out of that, nice job.
OK, be honest junior, do you know what half that stuff in spec list is ?
Can you tell me the diff between mosfet and jfet ?
Do you know if the 24b DAC is more responsive than the VSS in your truck ?
I'm not picking on you, I'm thinking that more than 95% of folks couldn't say.
And I'm sure they don't want to figure out the decibel log scale
or realize the standards for radios are based on crank telephones.
Just me rambling on, personal amusement. FFTI-NRR

Actually crab, I could tell you what most of those things means. Years ago I worked for a car audio and video store selling, and installing these things, so I had to learn what i could to answer questions like these..... However, getting into all of it would be quite the lesson. but I will make it simple for other readers. MOSFET and JFET are brands. Personally I prefer MOSFET for an on board amp due to clearer sound quality in my opinion. When it comes to decoding the DB, very simple, the higher the number, the cleaner the sound and less backgraound noise..... Preamps, or aka preouts are the RCA jacks in the rear to control amplifiers, frequency response ranging from 10-20,000 hz is the range of sound it will produce. We cannot actually hear lower then 150hz if i remember correctly, or over 18,000 hz for actual sound, but I might be off a little on those figures. So basically, you will not miss any of the music or tones. As far as other things like this one had a System Q EX Sound Control, same thing as other equalizers on other stereos, just Kenwood chose a different name to make it sound like it was better. In the end, all the head units are very similar, the biggest thing to look for is signal-noise ratios and frequency responce range. Keep those numbers high, and you have a decent unit. Anything beyond that is just butter.....

Hope that helped.

And yeah, I did not just list it here, so I had more of an oppurtunity to sell it. I will miss it though, it was the best head unit I have ever owned.

I guess I owe you an apology in it's actual meaning of "explanation" not the common meaning of "sorry".
I wasn't asking because I don't know, I was asking because I frequently see these kinds of lists
and people "brag" about what the had not knowing what the things are.
Sort of like if I listed all the things that make my truck better than other trucks and included on that list the color.
You may like the color but does it make it "better" than others ?

Before I spent my years in the engineering dept of a test equipt manufacturer,
I used to teach analog, digital and programming at the college level.
MOSFET and JFET are not just brands, the are the actual technology of the switching components.
You might find these contrasted to/with cmos or TTL.
Human hearing is commonly described as being 20-20kHz, but actually is broader.
In fact not only can 23kHz be heard over audio circuits,
many mechanics hear it as part of the sound made by bearings.
Decibals are used to measure both volume and diffence in volume,
such as signal to noise ratios. for ex: -3db is a significant filter or loss.

I could ramble on for quite a while, like I said, it's a personal thing.
I may even mix things up in my dotage, but I never lose interest.
There are a number of others here with significant knowledge on the subject.

That's the truth that practical experience brings.

........

Now see I thought it was much narrower then that. I thought an average human being cannot hear sound below 150hz or above 18k. Not saying that speakers cannot produce this sound, just that we cannot hear it. Do you know what the frequency of a dog whistle is?

I'm sure you have heard of 60 cycle hum. Kind of what you hear from flouresent lights and doorbell transformers.
If YOUR bass wasn't putting out solid below 60hz, guys your age wouldn't like it but guys my age would.
Never found out the frequency of dog whistles, my wife trained me on hand signals.
