I need a set of DRW front 4x4 hubs ASAP!!!!!!!!!! My wife is stuck out of state and is dealing with a failed hub in Tennessee and I am in Iraq and cannot help. She needs a new or good used hub for a D50 TTB front end. A dually hub from a 60 will work just fine. From what I have found out they are the same. Please let me know if any of you have a set collecting dust that you want to sell.

Umm, shouldn't that have a solid axle dana 60 under it, being a dually?

| Not Sure Marty. I don't think they standardized on the D60 until the 99+ body style. The only OBS CC duallys that have 4x4 were conversions (I believe)..

Thats a big problem when running that tire and wheel combo. Looks as though there is a differential missing too. Was this a conversion here, and this truck was not a 4x4 right? These series trucks that were 4x4 would have had a straigh axle ball joint D60 and leaf springs. I also do not see a transfer case. That big BW case is hard to miss. This truck appears to simply have a TTB axle under it to accomodate the lift required to fit that tire and wheel combo. Other than the obvious, what else has failed? That has got to need bearings, and probably a spindle. Looks as though more than just the hub failed. I see a caliper dangling in the wind there, so is there more than meets the eye? Evil bay has all sorts of front end components. I know the TTB spindle is different than the straight axle, and the straight axle cant use the TTB spindle, but the TTB can use the straight axle spindle, after a little grinding on the mating surface. This does not have to be perfect, and a little time with the flap wheel will make easy work of this. I do not have hubs, and would not recomend used bearings, but I do have these very hard to find spindles. I had as many as 3 dozen, and I am down to probably 10 or so. If you think you need a spindle, I have some for you.

Okay, let me see if I can address everything. Upfront, that is a true factory one ton dually TTB D50 front end. 85 is the only year I know of where Ford did that. That is why I used an 85 TTB dually front end it is the only one I could find. From what the mechanic said the spindle if fine and believe it or not the bearings even survived. Of course I am not taking a chance with them, they will be replaced. The problem is a spindle nut failure. They came off and the hub did not come apart right away. The inside bearing slipped out of position and that is what ate up the hub. A new set of Stage 8 spindle nuts are on the way so that should eliminate any spindle nut failures in the future. To clear up the confusion, yes it is a four wheel drive conversion. I used the TTB (out of an 85 F350 dually) because I like those front ends. I was home on leave when I did the conversion and ran out of time. That is why the differential and axles were not installed. That is a ten lug bolt on conversion. The TTB D50 shares most of the same hub components as the D60 so I doubt the rim and tire combination is to blame. I have never had a TTB front end fail on me before, even when I had a set of super singles. Ford said they cannot get a hub any time soon if at all. But, they at least list it I’ll try and get some photographs to post so you all can see the hub itself. I do not mean to throw out a sob story, but my wife is there because my grandfather is not long for this world. And I may end up going home on emergency leave. So I cannot stress how important it is we find at least one hub soon.

75K30 If you have some spindles I sure am interested. I know later model spindles are not the same because I tried a set out of a 96 TTB D50. But if you have some older ones I would like the piece of mind of getting them installed. Let me know how much you want. Oh and yes, the transfer case is installed. I used one from a 95 4x4 one ton like mine. I tried to use as many factory parts as possible from the same year. (other than the front end). Last edited by Lonesome7.3; 08-02-2008 at 06:52 AM.
