mud, i respect your opinion but you have a personal veiwpoint at this. i dont have near the loss out of this as say your parents do if the company folds. i dont think they should take this overseas as unemployment will rise. how many of you have the money to move to a different coutry and start over??
i cant say that any of this can be solved easily. reagan thought he could fix things and for a good part, it seemed to help despite him making everyone angry. medicine never tastes good. also, whos to say that a recession wont do us good?? the one we are in drove the price of oil down. that really doesnt make sense since in a recession, commodities goes up and everything else goes down. this might be the best thing that has happened to us in several years.

Now what do you think about that plus they should have tons of people telling them in the company hey were not going to make it to this date maybe we should lay off some people on salary but they don't?? What happens to us little people we have to make it work somehow nobody bails us out.

if the ceo's would not give out bonis checks every quarter for around 100k to 500k to all the top people they would not have this problem.

Bailout NO!
My company has suffered from this economic crisis, and what do I have to do? I tighten my belt, and find a soloution! Not run to the government and ask for a handout. Do you think if little old me were to show up and ask the government for a few bucks so I can help out my employees, and keep rolling? I dont think so. Why would a large corperation such as GM be any different? It should not, and I am already paying enough in taxes, why would I want to continue to pay into a company that has been running itself into the dirt for years.
Too bad folks have to lose thier jobs, but most of them are the primary reasons why the company is on trouble in the first place.
Here is what I mean:
Why not ask the people that work for the company to participate and help keep the company running? Take a cut in pay, and keep thier jobs, or stick it out, and suffer the rath. Lose the job and everyone is making no money, or tighten the belts and wait for the economy to come around again. People will start buying cars again.
I would bet that greedy, closed minded people feel that they are somehow above loosing thier jobs, and it could never happen to them. Well, now when reality sets in, nobody knows how to tighten thier belts.
Handouts are not the right way to solve this problem.
They stated they merely wanted a loan. If it was anyones personal money, would you shell out money to support a troubled or dying company? That would be a poor business decission, and as individuals we would not do that, why in the heak would we give our money away as a group?
Just because they are GM, does not give them the right to gobble up money, especially mine. They do not know how to manage thier money well enough to survive, why give them more? Heak I already give them too much money when I purchase GM vehicles, as does anyone else, why in the heak would I want to give them more? Maybe just so they can continue charging me too darn much at the time of purchase?
Make the people invest and give back to the facility or business that puts food on thier table, and quit taking food off of mine.
GM employs approx 266,500 employees. Think about this for a minute, assume they average income is around 40k per year, that is over 10 billion dollars, yes billion.
While we cant get rid of all of the employees (though it might be a start, I am not a union fan. They only cause these types of issues), we can trim the fat. Trim the fat and get the company straight again, and get thier hands out of my pocket.
I have my own mortgages to pay, I should not have to pay for others.

Think about trimming the fat, and ask them to participate. Volunteer a 20% (or any percentage) reduction in pay, and continue to work, or suck the life out of the company that has been so good (too good) to them for so many years.
Quit taking, and start giving back.
Yes, I am against the bail out.

the auto makers are asking for a bail out because of the banks and othes who have gotten them

our "genius" government should have left well enough alone..those highly paid executives should take a cut in salary and there should be no bonuses what so ever either.

these companies put themselves where they are at and why should tax payers have to help them?

the government doesn't bail us out as individuals do they?
