NPS continues to evaluate Hatteras Spit escort program (Outer Banks Sentinel)

The National Park Service (NPS) reports a favorable account to date for the Hatteras spit off road vehicle (ORV) trial escort program instituted at Cape Hatteras National Seashore on May 21, 2005. The program is being continuously evaluated for success in the provision of both ORV access, and the successful nesting of the piping plover and protection of other shorebirds.
