My brother has a chevy s10 1995 and the 4 wheel drive won't work. The light comes on but it won't engage. I looked at the fuze and its fine and when you press the 4X4 button you can hear something like its trying to engage but it just won't work.

is the front axle locking? if not the driveshaft will turn but not give you 4 wheel drive. I think the S10 front axle locks with vacuum to an actuator usually under the battery and a cable to the axle.Could be as simple as a broken vacuum line.

. Sweet thanks, I don't think it is locking so I'll take a look at that line and then replace it

They are known for the vacuum line to fail because it is routed directly under the battery.
