2006 Chevy 1500 lost 1st gear

    Ok..... Christmas day and I loose 1st gear (Automatic ). I know I will need a rebuild soon, but anyone have a short term remedy?

    lucas trans fix would be the best bet for you, get it warm before you add it in the stuff pours like honey make sure to drain 24 oz out before adding it in.

    do both, Lucas makes good stuff, the Power steering stuff works wonders .

    If it hard part failure lucas won't do anything, unless your lucky and its a stuck valve, it could also be a bad 1-2 shift solenoid if thats the case lucas won't help will need to replace it if thats the only thing wrong with it.

    And if you already know the tranny is on the way out the door then more than likely you lost 1st for good if the tranny is already crappin.g the bed. You may as well just get ready put it in a shop and have it rebuilt. I have dealt with alot of issues on the 4l60e and if its about to go, or has internal problems its going to fail no way around it, and no short term fix either.

    1st gear comes back after it' been parked awhile. Funds are tight right now...... Will give the suggestions a try. Hope no hard parts are damaged. Thanks for the replies!

    sounds like you may have a low gear seal damaged , loses pressure when oil get thinner
