I need to install a new rear window in my truck. Before I start it and get stuck without a window because of a screw up, I was hoping someone could give me a quick tutorial on how to remove the old and install the new. I searched the site and google but couldn't find anything helpful. Thanks!

    First, get a big rock...

    Kidding!

It depends on the type of window you have but the most common type uses a plastic/rubber seal around the glass that has a groove in it (inside the cab). In that groove is a strip of plastic or rubber called a spline. Look for an end of the spline and simply pull it out. Now the gasket/seal has room to compress a little and you can pop the whole thing out into the bed. Installation is just the opposite.

the one with the rubber around it, i have used a small good rope around the rubber and shoved it into the hole. once there, start working the rope back and froth and it will both seat the window where it needs to be and pull the rubber out the way it supposed to look.

Mine was the new GMC kind - No rubber seal. Simply silicone sealed on. I used the big rock theory (used a small hammer). Then cut along the inside edge of the seal after all the glass was out. Then pulled the silicone sealant off. Did the reverse putting the new one on. Used pipe clamps with a long board to hold window in place. Hopefully by tomorrow morning it will harden enough to drive. Thanks guys!
