    I recently purchased a 94 toyota 2WD pickup, 5spd, with 95,000 miles.

I've noticed that when I hit about 65 mph and the AC is on it makes a lot of noise that sounds like valve chatter. I'm hoping someone that has experienced this might tell me what is going on. Otherwise the pickup runs great.

Welcome to the forum. So you have narrowed the location of the sound to the engine compartment? How is the oil level? Does it do it with the AC off? Any other times or only at 65 with the AC on? Valve chatter would be more consistent one would think.

I have only noticed it when the engine is stressed and the AC is on. such as driving 65 down the freeway or possibly at a lower speed when going up a grade. Yes, it's definitely coming from the engine compartment.

    Thanks for the welcome

Only does it with ac on? If you could maybe pinpoint it to the ac compressor..or belt flap../loose when ac on?
Might take belt off ac..take down the road..see if it stops..also click here welcome .
