Hi all, new to this message board and trying to find an answer to my major problem. Here it goes.
I was driven my 1996 gmc jimmy w/ a 4.3 vortec engine , down the road and the truck just died on me. The truck cranks over but does not start. When cranking over, ever 5 seconds or so, the engine stops cranking like its becoming hydro locked. Checked the fuel pressure, 62 lbs. (key on), 58 lbs (cranking), seems o.k. Check for spark at coil and plugs, have spark. Changed crank shaft sensor. Truck will not fire with starting fluild with fuel pump on or off. Pulled top of intake off, spider tubes look o.k.,not burnt or broken. Have alittle gas puddling in the # 5 & 6 cylinder intakes. Seems like fuel is coming from vent tubes that are in front fuel metering body. I'm running out of ideas. Please any help will be appreciated

yes the timing would normally jump while ur driving but besides that when u checked for spark what color was the spark because you could have spark just not hot enough spark to ignite all the fuel, just a guess

I checked the spark w/ a spark plug tester w/ the mini light bulb iside of it. I've been talking to some people and they are telling me to change out the fuel injector system. Not 100% sure that's the problem, costly part on a guess. Is there a sure way to test the injectors w/ the spider tubes ? BOY, I HATE TRYING TO SAVE MONEY!!!!!

No, just popped a few times out of the butterfly. Changed the coil today with no luck. Would the pick-up coil give you a weak spark?

O.K. Here's a ?. What would cause a weak spark? My next step is poss buying a new computer, but I hate to spend the $130 if it's not the problem. Did I mention I hate newer vehicles
