Just looking for additional input, I'm in the market for a new work truck. Looking at older Rams, 2500 cummins diesel 2007-08ish, higher miles in the mid 100k's.. Or 2012-13 gas burner with under 100k miles in the same price range... been looking at f250s, rams, etc... leaning towards diesel but I really want to weigh the pros and cons before I decide. My current work truck is an 07 f150 paid cash, and I'm hesitant to get an auto loan for a work vehicle but I really need something to keep up with my workload, pulling my trailer and occasionally a skid steer or something. Thoughts?

If You are hauling and pulling, go diesel.

The hemi rams are quite capable trucks. It all boils down to your frequent work load though. As has already been said, Cummins is tops. If greater than 8,000 pounds on a common basis. Definitely go Cummins with a manual transmission. The autos are OK, but are prone to problems

Yes the Cummins truck Trans do give problems I have heard of a rebuilt kit to go heavy duty and I think there is a advantage to a older than 2005 Dodge.
