We have a 96 F250 that has had a rattle underneath for years. I have searched and searched for it with no luck. I thought it was specific to that truck. Then I picked up an 88 F250 with the same damn rattle. A buddy and I drove around for a day with our heads hanging out the window trying to identify it. Then, a couple of days ago I heard the same rattle under a mid-90’s F350 as it drove past us in town. Has anyone else had this issue? Have you have any luck locating it? This is driving me crazy and now I have to deal with it on two trucks.

I think it's the handbrake cable I heard of that many moons ago or some other cable under the truck I can't really remember what it really was but I'm leaning towards the brake cable I hope this hopes buddy.

Lonesome if you ever come into those tarps you had at one time or one that I bought from you please let me know. :)

I thought it might be the brackety where the cable came together. So I wrapped it up and rove around. Still tattled.

I doubt I will ever stumble across those tarps again. I wish I had kept a few for myself now.

I do not think we have the same issue. He has a 2005 4x4. I am hearing it on OBS trucks. Funny thing though. The 96 I am converting to four wheel drive. The transfer case is installed and working. Even after all that work, I still hear the noise.

My cousin has a 90s Ford F250. His had a bad rattle, He replaced the cab bushings and the rattle went away.
Also, it could possibly be the strut rods holding the IFS from shifting back.

The bushings appear to be in good shape. It sounds like a chain rattling. For the longest time I thought I left a tool somewhere in the frame.

A chingaling kind of noise like a chain dragging ? or a rattle like a chain being shook ?
I know My cousins trucks noises was weird, rattle, squeaks and clunking. it was terrible. He had poly bushings installed and the truck now is as quiet as a Ford can get.

A chain rattling. But it is not constant. I hear it more when I hit bumps
