The truck I own came with a muffler (brand unknown) with 2 outlets but does not have a tailpipe. Do I buy 2 tailpipes or are there tailpipes designed for a 2 outlet muffler?

You will probably need to take it to a muffler shop and have them fab up the tailpipes. You just need to decide how you want them to exit.

Usually, these units come with one pipe out the muffler, routing the second pipe out the drivers side can become sort of tricky. Most shops, if there is no passages for a left side pipe will usually route both pipes out the same side.
personally, Myself, if I am going to have dual pipes I want one out each side or else both pipes straight out the back, under the bumper, several feet apart.
On a real cold day, when straight out the back, you have a tail gater, from a traffic light or a stop sign, nail the throttle, leave them in a cloud of vapor. works splendidly about twenty below with no wind. :applaud::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
