I would watch the linkage for movement when the engine is revved.

Installed a remote start in it.
I suppose it has the lubed for life suspension components also.
Can you get the noise to occur when your hooked up but not moving? Could be the suspension groaning under load.
When was the last time you greased your trailer ball ?
