start with a good alignment, and check front end parts
then put a 7.4 in it gen 5 carb
ecm temp switch, oil pressure switch,fuel pump relay
might be a clamp rotting off as i found on my beater
pressurize it cold and see if it holds
when you mention damp weather, dried out plug wires comes to mind, carbon tracking in dist cap
tow mode, 4x4 low is gear reduction making it easier for the engine to turn the wheels
hose should be clamped to pipe, maybe the pipe to tank seal was leaking?
is there smoke coming from the oil fill cap when hot? might put an old style breather cap on it, pvc working?
i do it all the time, leave it running and stay 3 ft back with the wand
could run an engine flush thru it then put in fresh oil
