So... I've got a 1980 gmc k2500 with the dual fuel tanks. No matter the amount of fuel in either tank the right hand tank always reads empty and left hand tank always reads full. I was planning to drop the fuel tank and just change the fuel sending units, but figured someone else may possibly know better. Any ideas?

I think the the sending units are ok. I think the right side tank is being siphoned into the left. I would be checking the selector.

If it were siphoning into the other tank, I would be able to run on the left tank while it is empty and the right is full? Because right now once the tank that is selected becomes empty, that's it, it's out of gas unless I select the other

sounds like the the electric part of the switch for left and right tank, poss that the left tank sending wire is grounded out
